Mattia Binotto’s Time In F1

Mattia Binotto is a well-known figure in the world of Formula One racing. He has been a part of the sport for over two decades, working for one of the most successful teams in the history of the sport.

Binotto began his career in Formula One in the mid-1990s, working as a design engineer for the Ferrari team. He quickly worked his way up the ranks, becoming head of engine development in 2007. In this role, he played a key role in the development of the team’s highly successful V8 and V10 engines.

In 2016, Binotto was promoted to the position of chief technical officer at Ferrari. In this role, he oversaw all aspects of the team’s technical operations, including design, engineering, and manufacturing. He also worked closely with the team’s drivers and management to develop strategies and tactics for races.

Under Binotto’s leadership, Ferrari enjoyed a resurgence in performance, with the team finishing as runners-up in the Constructors’ Championship in 2017 and 2018. Additionally, in 2019, Charles Leclerc won the pole position and race in Belgium and Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel ended up on the podium in numerous race.

In 2019, Binotto was promoted to the role of team principal, becoming the first person to hold this position at Ferrari since Stefano Domenicali left in 2014. In this role, Binotto is responsible for the overall performance of the team and its operations. He has continued to lead the team to strong performances on the track, with the team achieving multiple podium finishes in the 2020 season and Charles Leclerc winning the 2020 Bahrain GP.

Despite the team’s success under Binotto’s leadership, the 2021 season was a difficult one for Ferrari. The team struggled with the new aerodynamic regulations and failed to win a race, finishing a distant 6th in the Constructors’ Championship. This led to a reshuffle in the technical department, with Binotto staying in his role as team principal but with a more hands-on approach in the technical side.

While 2022 was a strong comeback season for Ferrari, it wasn’t enough for the parent company who removed him from the team at the end of the year. Overall, Mattia Binotto’s time in Formula One has been marked by success and innovation. His contributions to the sport have helped to make it one of the most exciting and competitive sports in the world. He will continue to be an important figure in Formula One for many years to come.
