Haas F1 Team Unveils Plans for a Stronger Upgrade Programme

Haas F1 team is ready to step up the game this season and challenge its rivals with a stronger programme of upgrades, according to Haas Technical Director Simone Resta. With increased financial freedom and a new title sponsorship deal with Moneygram, Haas is aiming to take a leap forward and make significant in-season developments.

“It’s probably one of the most ‘fashionable’ arguments in Formula 1, and I won’t spoil the surprise for anyone,” Resta said, hinting at the team’s big plans. “For sure, we’ll have a stronger programme of upgrades compared to last year, and we are at the very beginning.”

The new Haas VF-23, which ran for the first time at Silverstone, has undergone a massive rework, with both aerodynamic and weight improvements. “There has been a complete rework of the car involving many, many components,” Resta said. “We try to save a few of the components on last season’s car but try to improve the aerodynamic performance, improve the weight of the component, and improve the quality of the component.”

Haas’s move to eighth place in the 2022 constructors’ championship and the new title sponsorship deal with Moneygram has allowed the team to have a bit more financial freedom this year. “Finishing eighth in the 2022 constructors’ championship has been a very positive result for the team,” Resta said. “Of course, we aim to always do better, but I think it was a very good step forward, and this will inevitably give some extra resources to the team.”
