From Midfield to Podium: Aston Martin’s Bold Vision for 2023 F1 Season

Aston Martin has broken new ground in the world of Formula 1 with the reveal of its AMR23 car. At the team’s 2023 launch event at Silverstone, the new car was unveiled to the world and has set high expectations for the upcoming season. The AMR23 marks the third iteration of the Aston Martin brand in F1, operated by the team that began its journey as Jordan back in the early 1990s.

The Aston Martin team has made a significant change to its lineup for the 2023 season, bringing on two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso as its marquee signing, alongside Lance Stroll. The team is also well-stocked with talented reserves, including Stoffel Vandoorne and reigning Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich. With this new talent, the team is poised to make a real impact in the 2023 season.

According to the team’s executive chairman Lawrence Stroll, “Formula 1, like any other business, is a journey. This will only be our third year in this journey, and the plan this year is to make a step, next year make another step, the year after another step, until we’re winning and ultimately fighting for world championships.”

The AMR23 is the first car to be overseen from its inception by Dan Fallows, the team’s technical director who was recruited from Red Bull. Fallows says that the car is “very, very different from last year”, with 95% of the car being completely different from the previous model, the AMR22. The design of the car reflects the team’s goal of being bold, aggressive, and taking on lessons from last year to make significant progress in the 2023 season.

The 2023 season will also be a major milestone for Aston Martin as the team moves into its new Silverstone factory. Although the windtunnel that will be part of the investment is only slated to come online the following year, the team is poised to make a big impact in the 2023 season with the AMR23.

With the reveal of the AMR23 and the addition of Fernando Alonso to the lineup, the Aston Martin team is poised for a strong season. The team has high hopes for the 2023 season and is determined to deliver a car that will be competitive from the outset. New signing Alonso quipped, “I think the fans will appreciate as well that we’ve launched the real car. They’re sometimes disappointed to see just a show car with different stickers. This team is just more fair on everything.” With these high hopes and the talented lineup, the 2023 season promises to be a dramatic and exciting year for Aston Martin in Formula 1.
